SAP Business One, a powerful enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, has undergone several new version releases in less than 10 years. Innovation is at the heart of everything SAP does, and the company strives to provide the best experience for its users.
The latest release, SAP Business One version 10, introduces many new features designed to enhance usability and the user experience. Vision33’s Steven Airoldi and Yves Beaucage recently hosted a Lunch and Learn webinar series to highlight version 10, which is available across MS SQL and HANA versions.
Here are four reasons to upgrade to SAP Business One version 10.
The new web client offers an optimized experience using a tablet or computer with Google Chrome or Firefox web browsers. The web client encapsulates the core processes of SAP Business One, including business logic, is based on the SAP Fiori design, and is available for both MS SQL and HANA versions. Creating, processing, updating, and tracking activities and marketing documents is easier than ever, and users will benefit from the powerful and sophisticated charting and analytical capabilities.
Users can now increase screen real estate by hiding toolbars, and field lengths increased to 200 characters across business master and item master screens. Keyboard shortcuts are still supported. Other improvements include marketing document status, attachment tabs, and shipping type setup. The relationship maps introduced in version 9.2 have been enhanced to allow cross-module tracking, allowing users to see the base document of a specific business subject with a click of the info icon.
Several enhancements across the financial modules include the ability to drill down to G/L account level from within financial reports and posting period/period end enhancements. Fixed assets introduce a new revaluations account on fixed assets and improved rounding methods.
To refer documents together in previous versions, you needed to call up the accounting tab and click on a reference document icon to bind a transaction to something else. In version 10, you can right-click on a document (e.g., a sales order) to reference documents together or duplicate and edit a document for a new customer. If you duplicate a document, you can copy its attachments. This applies to sales orders, invoice transactions, incoming and outgoing payments, deposits, production orders, timesheet entries, and more. You can also grant specific authorization for this function.
