Blog > From Sage 50 to Sage Intacct: How CCPA Modernized Finance for the Future
The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) is a national bilingual association representing over 20,000 professional counsellors and psychotherapists across Canada.
As a member-focused organization, CCPA advocates for the regulation of the counselling and psychotherapy profession nationwide, helping raise professional standards and improve access to safe, high-quality mental health care.
The association connects members with peers, offers the nationally recognized Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) credential, and provides valuable benefits, including professional development, networking opportunities, and affordable professional liability insurance.
CCPA’s two-person finance team was held back by entry-level accounting software and manual processes.
With Sage 50, the team relied on spreadsheets to manage revenue deferrals and prepare financial reports. Disconnected systems also meant manually transferring transactions from CCPA’s association management system, increasing administrative work and the risk of errors. Annual audits could take up to a month to complete.
Wanting to stay in the Sage ecosystem, CCPA selected Sage Intacct, a cloud-native financial management solution that offers greater efficiency, flexibility, and visibility.
In addition to Sage Intacct’s powerful out-of-the-box features, CCPA implemented expense management and revenue recognition modules to streamline workflows and automate revenue deferrals.
Sage recommended Vision33, a trusted global Sage Intacct partner, to support CCPA’s implementation and ongoing success.
Vision33 implemented Sage Intacct and connected it to CCPA’s association management system via Saltbox Integration Platform.
“Vision33 has been awesome,” says Tony Laderoute, CCPA’s senior director of finance and operations. “We’re all on the same page. No one there is stuffy. We can just talk through things, and we have a good rapport.”
Sage Intacct has transformed CCPA’s finance operations, giving the team real-time reporting, more efficient workflows, and greater confidence in its financial data.
Reports that once took two to three days are now generated in about an hour. Revenue deferrals are automated, and audits that previously took a month now take less than a week.
“Sage Intacct has made a world of difference in my role and my administrator’s role,” Tony says. “It freed us up to do the things that are important, like real-time reporting and having confidence in accurate information. That’s a big deal.”
