Saltbox and SAP Business One for distribution

The Jay Group Ltd. was founded nearly 75 years ago to satisfy the growing demand of companies requiring footwear inventory solutions. Today, The Jay Group enjoys strong relationships with US-based and international footwear manufacturers, mass retailers, and brands by providing competitively priced footwear in emerging markets.

The Challenge

The Jay Group’s latest industry innovation is a technology-enabled re-commerce business that serves as an end-to-end solution for brands and retailers. The company runs both its re-commerce and traditional product distribution businesses on SAP Business One, a powerful enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.

However, with rapid re-commerce business growth and several new overseas warehouses, The Jay Group’s single-location, on-premises operations system couldn’t keep up. The Jay Group wanted to retire its existing hardware and SAP system, deploy everything in the cloud, and seamlessly integrate its systems.

The Solution

The Jay Group chose a multi-tenant deployment of SAP Business One on HANA powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), called SAP Business One HANA MTE. The company also implemented The Saltbox Platform, a cloud-native integration platform as a service (iPaaS) developed by Vision33, to integrate the new SAP Business One instance with its operations systems.

The Result

After a short implementation period, The Jay Group integrated purchase order and inventory receipts management. The company now knows everything about the inventory entering its warehouses in real-time, including which warehouse, the date and time of arrival, and which goods have already been received. And, because The Jay Group is fully cloud-enabled, employees worldwide share the same views of the company’s real-time purchases and inventory status data.
