The modern non-profit CFO is more ambitious and mission-focused than ever. According to Sage’s report, non-profit finance leaders love their jobs more than those in any other sector, with 99% agreeing they strongly affect their organization’s growth.
This influence is expanding beyond traditional finance. The research found that 65% of non-profit finance leaders now collaborate with HR, and 86% want to better align people strategies with their organization’s broader objectives. By participating in these high-level discussions, CFOs are shaping their non-profits’ strategic direction.
However, this expanded role comes with challenges. 34% of non-profit CFOs feel burnt out, and 62% find it difficult to balance stakeholder needs. To succeed, they need the right tools to build capacity and free up time for strategic thinking.
Non-profit finance leaders recognize the need for digital progress. Sage’s report highlights that 93% of non-profit CFOs wish they had better technology for automation and error prevention. They’re also keen to drive innovation, with 86% wanting to invest further in technology and lead digital transformation efforts.
